Comfort Cases is a nonprofit organization that provides support, dignity, and hope to children entering the foster care system.
Here are some reasons why this group is so important and valuable:
Restores dignity to foster children. Many children entering foster care are forced to carry their belongings in trash bags—a deeply undignified experience that can reinforce feelings of worthlessness and instability. Comfort Cases replaces trash bags with brand-new backpacks or duffel bags filled with essential and comforting items.
Provides essentials and comfort items. Each Comfort Case typically includes: pajamas , a blanket or stuffed animal, hygiene products (toothbrush, soap, shampoo, etc.), a book, and a journal and crayons or pens These items help children feel cared for during what is often a frightening transition.
